DFW Airport economic impact grows to $37 billion, 6th terminal may be added

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport’s annual economic impact on North Texas has risen to $37 billion, and more growth is in store.

The airport also supports 228,000 jobs in the region with a payroll of $12.5 billion annually, according to a study compiled by the Perryman Group and released at a “state of the airport” luncheon.

The airport is in discussions with its largest tenant, American Airlines, about possibly building a sixth terminal, DFW Airport CEO Sean Donohue said. With the area’s population and economic growth, the airport’s existing 165 gates will not be enough, he said. The proposed Terminal F could add about 30 gates.
