GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Lykes Cartage Co. Inc. has settled into 68,818 sf of class A industrial space in the Great Southwest Industrial District in an expansion and relocation within North Texas.
The cargo and freight company has moved to 2880 113th St. in Grand Prairie, signing a long-term lease for nearly 69% of the Great Southwest Distribution Center. Joe Santaularia, first vice president of Bradford Commercial Real Estate Services, and former CORFAC International affiliate, Russell Todd of Centric Commercial represented Lykes in the transaction and subsequent sublease of its former 28,000-sf warehouse in Grapevine.
The initial site search was focused on the DFW Airport submarket, but was expanded to include the Great Southwest because of limited supply in the needed size range and requirements for docks and trailer parks.
"Lykes needed to expand and there were few options. Spaces like this don't really sit for long in this market," says Santaularia, whose client ended up with nine docks and 15 trailer parks.
The 100,408-sf Great Southwest Distribution Center is now 100% leased. Michael Pienado of Lincoln Property Co. represented the landlord, Columbia Texas 113th Industrial LP.
Marking its 44th year in business, Austin-based Lykes maintains six offices and distribution centers in Texas and four in Florida. It offers individualized shipping services, including last mile deliveries, and warehousing.
